The Center for Distance Learning Research (CDLR) was established in 1991 and approved in January of 1992 as an official center of Texas A&M University within its College of Education and Human Development. The CDLR has provided training and technical assistance to over 8,000 individuals since 1996.

The CDLR was recently honored with the
United State Distance Learning Association's 21st Century Distance Learning Award.
